Background

I am a formally trained Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist, and member of both the National Hypnotherapy Society and National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (albeit now retired and no longer in practise).

Both the National Hypnotherapy Society (HS) and National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) are regulated by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) and hold Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) status. These societies ensure that member therapists work to high standards and are there to help protect you. You can watch a short video by the PSA explaining how the Accredited Register is designed to protect you and give you wider access to treatment here. The Accredited Register program was set up by the Government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public.

Any professional member of either of the above societies is bound by a strict Code of Ethics, Rules and Conditions. This helps to ensure your continued safety and ethical treatment. Members of the societies are also committed to continuing professional and personal development, as well as having appropriate and professional supervision, insurance etc.

If you have any questions about either society, please click on the hyperlinks above to visit the society’s website.
